Denim co-owner Wayne Shulick has been quoted in local media as comparing his new lounge to his upscale clothing store -- Smith Bros Jeans -- meaning: "Not everybody can afford $120 jeans; not everyone can afford bottles of champagne and ounces of caviar. We're not looking for the masses." It's evident from the get-go that his statement translates into an ever-so-chic restaurant/club that caters to a clientele with refined palates and a chichi sense of style. Designer Jeff Low has created a sleek, sophisticated space that allows patrons to indulge in a sense of mystery and perhaps feel a little more important than they really are. The creme de la creme of the Denim clientele can make use of private entrances, tables and nooks. Live music adds to the atmosphere with everything from Latin to '80s to trip-hop. The ambience is simple, understated and elegant.

Fresh again...
By YaSoLastWeek on 10/24/2008
Given the older reviews, they must have "cleaned house" because I actually had a great time. The staff was friendly and there was a new VIP section that looked really nice. The drinks were no more expensive than anywhere else in Rittenhouse, plus the music is good and the people are sexy... Can't complain about that!

Inappropriate Staff

Went to Denim for Bachelor/Bachelorette Party. Paid incredible amount of money for the VIP Upstairs Lounge. Fiancé' went to bathroom and was wrongfully accused of throwing up. First of all, he did not. Secondly, is it club policy if someone was sick they would be thrown out? Of course not!! Clubs ask customers to leave based on intoxication and destructive or violent behavior. In this case, Management was requested and the request was denied by the doorman and the "so called bouncer". My poor fiancé only had a chance to have two beers!! This night cost around $2,000.00. Is this how they expect to maintain customers, especially their VIP paying customers? I have searched the internet and see mostly negative reviews. Finally, I will say, this club is not what is featured on the website, it is a trashy warehouse club with black spraypainted walls, exceeds it's Occupancy limit, which is a fire code violation and is absolutely filthy inside. Never will I return, and from my experience, clubs like this are shut down fairly quickly when they continually violate fire codes and city ordnances that are reported!!! At this point, I am in the process of addressing code violations with the local fire department, and the city of philadelphia for multiple unaddressed code violations, along with the owners of the facility, who are Wayne Shulik, Michael Silverman, Christopher Cwienkala and Micheal Churbuck in case anyone else would like to address these issues: The Philadelphia Fire Department and City Hall may be reached at Fire Commissioner's Office 215-686-1300 Special Investigations Office 215-686-1368 To reach the City Commissioner's Office located at City Hall: Margaret Tartaglione (D) (Chair) City Hall, Room 130 Phone: 686-3460, 3461 Fax: 587-9107 Edgar A. Once-a-hit, but now-a-miss

Visited a year ago & had an AMAZING time....visited this past weekend 9/9/06 & it was SLIM PICKINS! The hired help outnumbered the crowd, you have to be a card holding "member" to enter now & there was a professionally installed, horizontal, mirrored surface next to the bathroom sinks...hmmmm, wonder what that was for? This former "it" spot is kinda desperate & it can't fool anyone anymore.
