Denim co-owner Wayne Shulick has been quoted in local media as comparing his new lounge to his upscale clothing store -- Smith Bros Jeans -- meaning: "Not everybody can afford $120 jeans; not everyone can afford bottles of champagne and ounces of caviar. We're not looking for the masses." It's evident from the get-go that his statement translates into an ever-so-chic restaurant/club that caters to a clientele with refined palates and a chichi sense of style. Designer Jeff Low has created a sleek, sophisticated space that allows patrons to indulge in a sense of mystery and perhaps feel a little more important than they really are. The creme de la creme of the Denim clientele can make use of private entrances, tables and nooks. Live music adds to the atmosphere with everything from Latin to '80s to trip-hop. The ambience is simple, understated and elegant.

We had a Sweet 16 party on a Sat. afternoon at Denim and found the ambiance, the staff and the food to be wonderful. Christopher Robin handled the two nervous families giving the party courteously and with professionalism. It's a thumbs up for private parties during off hours.

Weak...Full of phony yuppies, Japs, and people who think they should be employed in Hollywood, only they're too ugly...Like denim, this place is faded.

a little over the top

As a young resident living close to the lounge, the crowd they attempt to attract is what they get, pretentious, much like their staff. However, I do give them two stars for decor and ambience... the place is rather beautiful and expansive inside although the bar area is always ridiculously crowded on weekends
