Khyber   

A small, neighborhood-oriented venue that plays host to independent-label local bands, groups on the cusp of fame and underground favorites, The Khyber is one of the last of a dying breed. Regular locals that play this cozy downstairs space include Asteroid #4, Stinking Lizaveta and Bardo Pond. Meanwhile, nationally-known groups and singers like Don Caballero and the Walkmen have also been known to put in appearances. The lineup skews toward rock, but the occasional hip-hop or folk show also pops up here. The laid-back bar is nothing to sneeze at, with dozens of bottled beers and about 10 more brands on tap. Don't miss happy hour, 5-7PM daily for $2 Yards and $1 off mixed drinks. While the upstairs space used to feature a variety of local DJ's, it is currently used solely for private parties. Cover varies, and tickets to selected shows are available in advance at the bar.
