Rate and Write a Review As one of the oldest continuously operating gay bars in the country, Tavern on Camac has quite a reputation to uphold. Fortunately, it's been up to the challenge for about 60 years. Tucked away on a tiny street in the heart of Philly's Gayborhood, Tavern on Camac has managed to hold on to a loyal clientele that comes for songs around its famous piano bar (every night at 9PM, with additional performances Saturdays and Sundays at 6PM.) In addition, TOC caters to a newer and less cabaret-style crowd that gravitates to the recently renovated disco upstairs -- one of the only places in town you'll find lesbians and gay men routinely dancing together to disco and Top 40 dance hits. On the ground floor is TOC's wood-paneled dining room (open Wednesday through Sunday), with a contemporary American menu of entrees like filet mignon, crabcakes and grilled pork chop. Come for dinner, then gather around the piano and belt out showtunes with an always enthusiastic crowd.
