Club 27, occupying the former home of erstwhile dance club Envy, has something of a split personality. The ground floor is home to a sports bar with traditional pub fare, and, of course, a big-screen television (make that a really big screen -- it measures 12 by eight feet). Sports fans can snack on buffalo wings, pizza, cheesesteaks and meatballs; pay a visit to the martini bar; or take advantage of the beer specials offered during any Eagles, Flyers, Phillies or Sixers game. Bumping and grinding upstairs is a dance club featuring a rotating cast of DJs spinning everything from club to house to hip-hop to funk. The second floor is a standard club space, with sizable dance pit and VIP lounge. The third floor, however, boasts one of the more spectacular architectural features of any club in the city: a wide, fenced-in catwalk tracing the square perimeter of the dance floor below. -- Brian Howard
