Arrogant and incompetent

In short: In attempting to order an arrangement, I experienced one of the most arrogant and caustic individuals (he told me his name was Michael), that I've ever had to deal with. I was told to try and place my order with another shop (which I immediately did - at Plants, etc - a 27year veteran of the area). What a contrast! Plants, etc. was a true pleasure; I would highly recommend using them instead of this vendor! Background details: I had called "Florist Philadelphia" (this store) asking for a simple arrangement that would include a small teddy bear (priced at $40.00). After the phone clerk first checked with someone as to whether this would be possible, he then took the order and said it would be delivered in the afternoon. About 30min later, I later received a message asking for me to call them (at 800-651-1236) about the order. Since I was in a meeting, I called back approximately 1.5hours later - only to be put "on hold" no less than 4 times while Michael purportedly was searching for the order. After the third time, he actually came back and asked me if I was certain that I hadn't placed the order with another shop (even though I was calling him back!!!)? After another round of searching he comes back on the line and told me that I could either choose to have a teddy bear alone delivered for $40, or add one to a flower arrangement for more than $50. Not understanding the rationale associated with the newly quoted pricing and also being disappointed with the overall delay in having something delivered (my ultimate interest), I asked why the order was taken in the first place - he replied with: "should I beat the individual for making a mistake?" In the end, he only used the words "I'm sorry" when I called back and asked to speak to the owner - who I was told would not be in anytime soon. There are a number of alternative florists in the same area. Please do yourself a favor and choose one of them rather than potentially subjecting yourself to Florist Philadelphia's caustic treatment. Again, especially given the current economic environment, I would highly recommend using "Plants, etc." - who would be quite happy to have another customer.
