The latest addition to Philly's comedy scene, Helium delivers stand-up, three-act shows with the nationally acclaimed headliners from Comedy Central, HBO, Leno and Letterman. The club's tiered, 240-seat main showroom is supported by two lounges, and food is served before and during shows. The menu sticks to the basics: salads (Greek, spring) and platters (dip-and-veggies, shrimp cocktail, chicken skewers, chicken fingers). You can also get an individual pizza, panini, fries, and a handful of desserts like gelato cheesecake. All shows start at 8PM on Wednesdays through Saturdays, there's a second show on Fridays and Saturdays at 10:30PM. Tickets are $15-$20, but admission is free on the open-mic Tuesdays. Although there's no drink minimum, there's a two-item minimum rule for the showroom (as in, buy a soda and an appetizer). Happy hour specials vary nightly ($2 lagers on Wednesday, $6 martinis on Thursday, etc.).
