Located on East Passyunk Avenue near Tasker Street, the oldest Italian-American business district in the country, Paradiso is an exciting new addition to "South Philly's Restaurant Row". The spacious property has been renovated into a casually-elegant restaurant that features a open-air kitchen with a fresh approach to regional Italian & Mediterranean cooking. The private dining room provides the perfect setting for any occasion with seating capacity for parties up to 100 guests.

Not even remotely Italian
By Denomartino on 05/30/2008
Shocked to hear this had been named the best, new Italian restaurant in Philly for 2006, I believe. Decor leaves much to be desired - walls, colors, etc. The seating is similar to a McDonald's - cramped and w/in inches of the next table. Service was sarcastic and not sure 'what they were out of.' As for the menu: I really don't understand how it qualified as Italian. Diners have more Italian food! Desserts were anything but, and even the cheese tray was mostly FRENCH! Very, very disappointing.

A lot can change in a year
By VinnyBODonuts on 05/12/2008
I recently have been to this restaurant 24-Apr-2008 and had an excellent meal. We started with the foie gras app placed on a perfectly seared scallop in a cherry/plum reduction. Next was their flavorfil garden salad with balsamic (fresh crisp greens abound) and ended with a beef shank dish complimented with marscapone polenta. The server was knowledgeable and let us know up front the prices on the special dishes. Although the ambiance was noisy at times, it shows that people want to enjoy a meal and chat with their friends.

Not good
By elrock43 on 02/13/2007
I was totally disappointed. Our food was not cooked as ordered and even when we sent it back it still was not done correctly. Poor service and a very long wait for our dinners. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very noisy and the servings of wine was very small to say the least.
