Rate and Write a Review Taking a cue from Denim across the street, the Walnut Room's unmarked door and second-floor location only enhances its in-the-know vibe. Once you climb the stairs (it's located above Buttercup bakery), you enter a cool oasis of Rittenhouse chic with a dose of Old City flash. The front room, with its plate glass windows overlooking Walnut Street, has its own bar and several low-slung seating areas, while the main room in back is darker and sexier, with artwork by local artists adorning the walls. The booths in the very back of the lounge, and the seats along the wall, encourage canoodling with someone you just met at the long, backlit bar, where the sexy bartenders can mix you one of their specialty cocktails or pour you one of several beers on tap. But the Walnut Room's strength is booking a diverse array of music, from reggae, soul and trip-hop to Latin, funk and hip-hop, all for a fun-loving crowd that likes to get down.
