Americana Diner & Restaurant   

Although Chinese chicken is not usually a dish you'd expect to find at a diner, the Americana in East Windsor takes a contemporary approach to the melting pot of American culture. Don't let that faux-stone facade and 1950s typeface fool ya: The Americana is all modern, with karaoke Tuesdays (a.k.a. Americana Idol) and DJs on Saturdays in the martini lounge area and a pastry chef who's name-checked on the menu (Bobby Gomez. Surely you've heard of him?). One taste of banana-misu cake, with its layers of caramelized bananas oozing over marscapone mousse and yellow cake, soaked in espresso-rum sauce, and you'll want to remember his name, too. But the rage at Americana is still the breakfast omelets, which are massive, hearty and made with painstaking attention to detail -- the pulp is removed from chopped tomatoes so you don't get a watery omelet.
