OK, so Anastasi's isn't some little waterfront eatery where the fish is so fresh you'd swear the owner was out back catching them as they're ordered. The only water you'll hear rippling at Anastasi's -- the fish store cum seafood house on the Italian Market -- might be from hoses being used by Ninth Street merchants cleaning off their sidewalks. But everything here is as fresh as can be and made with the loving touch of an Italian grandma -- nicely seasoned and redolent of secret family recipes. Anastasi's, which was a traditional seafood shop for decades, now hosts a full dining room with a bar that attracts diehard locals and those lucky out-of-towners who visit them. The atmosphere can be hectic at times and not necessarily conducive to a romantic night out, but it's always friendly and spirited.

Red shoed waitress
By TheFrankD1 on 05/17/2008
Each time my wife and I visit Anastasi Seafood we get a fresh and tasty dish at a reasonable price. What made our last visit particularly enjoyable was the service and friendliness of our waitress. Not only was she sweet but she made some great recommendations. We would like to thank her but we cannot recall her name but we remember she wore red shoes.

Service is Fishy
By robtactor on 06/20/2007
I've eaten at Anastasi many times, almost always sitting at the bar. The service was usually adequate to good. However, my last visit -- this was a couple years ago & I have not returned -- afforded me the type of service one might expect from a deaf-mute narcissist. It's possible that the young lady behind the bar is no longer there, but as she prattled on to her friend about her impending wedding to one of the owners, one never knows. Family seems to trump apathy, rudeness, & stupidity. The food was good, but when you have to wait for every aspect of service, the experience loses its flavor.

Lobster Pasta is the way to go
By lovemotherhood on 02/15/2007
They make a dish called Lobster Pasta which is not on the menu, but it is the best dish of all. Fried Shrimp and oysters are delicious. Not the most stylish place, very cramped, but when you start eating somehow, atmosphere becomes unimportant!!!
