Bards   

There's no shortage of Irish-themed bars in Philly, but none nail the authentic country-pub experience with quite the detail and panache of the Bards. The interior of the bar replicates a warm, Irish cottage right down to the thatched roof, stucco walls, and blazing fireplace. Sidle up to the thick wooden bar and chances are your bartender will pour you the best pint of Guinness or tumbler of whiskey in town, complete with a real-deal accent for style points (most bartenders are Irish). The menu's portraits of James Joyce and Oscar Wilde let you know that you're in for a real taste of Ireland -- from smoked salmon to calf's liver to a real Irish blood pudding, all served with the requisite Irish brown bread. Expect a mix of young and old, professionals and professional loafers, sharing the atmosphere and some lively conversation.
