Chapterhouse Cafe & Gallery   

Of all of the coffeehouses that have sprung up across Philadelphia in the past decade, Chapterhouse might just be the one you'd like to call home, literally. The building, refurbished by owners Christopher and Shannon Frank, a brother and sister duo, looks like an elegant, yet comfortable living space. Light bursts through large glass windows to light up the interior, lined with exposed brick and painted a frosty blue. Chairs, couches and tables are scattered across the polished hardwood floors and in front of a marble fireplace. Bookshelves are stacked with deep thoughts books like 'Chomsky Reader' and 'The Origin of Species.' All is not serious here, though. Aside from organic fair trade coffee, Chapterhouse serves an assortment of fun specialty lattes, including the "Vermont" made with maple syrup and the "Sweet Tooth" made with hazelnut, toffee and vanilla syrups. There are also pastries from Old City's Petit Four and freshly made smoothies, just in case you work up an appetite while surfing the free Wi-Fi or gazing at the rotating selection of artwork that adorns the walls of this gallery-cafe hybrid.
