No city would be complete without a traditional Irish Pub where the Harp flows without end and the Jameson's bottle is always half full. The Irish Pub of Philadelphia is just that sort o' place. Though much of the jukebox is filled with modern rock, there is still a selection of kitsch Irish drinking songs to spirit the patrons. College students flock to this place where the cocktails are cheap and there is almost always a special on Guinness. The Irish Pub also serves lunch and dinner with a menu of tasty bar fare. In the evenings the music is a blaring through the rustic-looking bar. Photos of old Irishmen and shamrock-inspired artwork crowd the walls, making the pub seem like a museum of tavern art. The storefront of the Irish Pub is designed to resemble a quaint Euro-pub and painted with contrasting shades of blue and green, making it nearly impossible to miss it from the street.

The Guinness was poured perfectly, the steak and mushroom (not kidney, unfortunately) was tasty, and the atmosphere was friendly even though one had to shout to be heard (10pm). Prices were quite reasonable and worth a stop if you're looking for a beer and a bit of irish-style bar fare.

This place is an insult to the Irish. First how do you have an "Irish" bar without one irish beer?No Guinness, Bass or Harp. The service was atrocious with a waitress whos bad attitude equaled her poor service. This place is neither "Irish" nor a "Pub".

Great place for a cheap, good lunch (with a few beers, natch). I wouldn't come here for a "dining out" experience, but that isn't a negative, rather, a commendation, especially when you consider its location. Highly recommended.
