Rate and Write a Review The domed glass roof of Center City's state-of-the-art Kimmel Center has become a familiar Philly presence, looming large over Broad Street and beckoning lovers of food, music and theater to the Avenue of the Arts. Beneath the 150-foot-high ceiling, the Kimmel houses the 2,500-seat Verizon Hall and the smaller Perelman Theater. It's home to the Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet and Peter Nero & the Philly Pops, among others, and also a home-away-from-home for countless performers from around the country and the world. Best of all, the Center isn't an evening-only affair: It features a rotating display of works from the Moore College of Art & Design, two cafes and the elegant Cadence restaurant, a gift shop, and an enchanting rooftop garden. In 2006, the Kimmel is scheduled to introduce the largest new concert-hall organ in the United States, which will feature more than 6,000 pipes.
