Stephen Starr?s Buddakan is a spectacular restaurant featuring exotic flavors of modern Asian cuisine with creativity and drama. Bon Appetit notes, "The mostly white space is striking, with a lit-from-within communal table in the middle of the room, a waterfall & a ten-foot, candle-bedecked Buddha. The religious icon watches over hip customers indulging in pan-Asian cuisine that far surpasses the fare usually found at hot spots like this." Newsweek reports, "Design also serves as a signifier for cuisine. You walk into Buddakan, one of the hottest new restaurants in Philadelphia, past a shimmering waterfall & Japanese river stones & you say to yourself, 'ginger-miso everything' even before you see the magnificent 10-foot Buddha dominating the dining room." Named one of ?America's Top 50 Restaurants" by Travel & Leisure and 'Top Restaurant for Fun' by Gourmet, Buddakan has become one of the country's most talked about restaurants.

ok but not dazzling

I went here with a group of 10 and was able to taste a lot of the offerings. While the food was good, none of it was particularly memorable. Save a bundle and go to P.F. Changs.

Love it
By danasynerfac on 05/25/2006
Food is awesome, people are a bit too trendy, and it is expensive. I am OBSESSED with the Asian BBQ Pork, so much food, the pork melts in your mouth, the chinese broccoli is amazing, and the onion rings are soooo good! A ton of food is on the plate, and I can eat ALOT. Banana tower is the best dessert. The milenium is a great "girly" drink. It got me buzzed, so I have no idea what people are talking about when they ssay drinks are watered down. Best Steven Starr in Philly.

Not All it's Cracked Up To Be
By quitapay on 04/28/2006
My husband and I ate there for the first time on April 8, 2006. I had heard such rave reviews that I told him I wanted to go for my birthday. The food was not that good, and the portions were small. Mind you, I am rather skinny so if I wasn't even close to full, then the portions were much too tiny. We will never go there again because quite frankly, it was crap.
