In a city where it seems like a new BYOB restaurant opens each week, it's refreshing to know that the BYOB pioneers are still going strong. Take Chloe, the 40-seat BYOB in the heart of Old City (but thankfully far removed from Market Street mayhem) that continuously produces high-quality contemporary American fare in an intimate, unpretentious setting. The dimly lit dining room is often filled with couples out for a romantic evening. However, it's also a good choice for groups, since the menu seems to offer something to suit every palate. The signature salad, with mouth-watering warm goat cheese, is a favorite to start with. For entrees, you can always expect a seasonally adjusted menu of dishes made with local organic produce and meat, such as the pork chops with bacon and caramelized onion. Also try the homemade pizza, which comes topped with fig jam, gorgonzola cheese and pancetta. Desserts are something to look forward to here: Though they change daily, you can always expect a gooey chocolate concoction that'll satisfy even the most picky chocolate lover. If you forget a bottle (or two) of wine, the nearest liquor store is on 2nd Street between Market and Chestnut.

Bad Policy

Have been here twice and have enjoyed the food both times. The fig pizza is different and delicious. Also, we appreciate that it's a byob. My only issue with this place is that they wouldn't seat me until my husband arrived. As it was a busy night being First Friday, he couldn't find a parking spot and had to park at a far away lot. I told the hostess I would order an appetizer and she still wouldn't seat me. Needless to say, we almost lost our table. She almost seemed hostile about the whole thing. Not a good way to begin a meal.

I never had a chance to check out the food because the service was so bad. We were there before they opened for a wake of a patron and afterwards stayed for dinner....The host(ess) was the most rood person I have ever come across. We were told to sit down and not to tauste out lound, as it was disturbing to the others....we took up all but 3 tables in the place.....when it was only myself and the parents of our friend who passed, we were asked to take a sat we were in ther way. But we had only rented out the place from 2 til 5pm when they opened...I was glad to see one couple wqalk out and give their condolenses to me and they stated they would never be back because of the way the family was being treated.....So CHLOE your food may be great but customer service, not even that....the way people are treated in morning after they support the way they did....I personally hope your doors are closed today and I will check to see daily if you are out of bussiness.....and will tell everyone I know, how bad CHLOE's is , and will promote the non use of your facility as long as I am in philly...I cherish the moment of your closing and the firing of your HOST(ess) that evening...
