In ShortAn era has ended for one of the primary restaurants to spur Old City's 1990's renaissance, as original chef Thien Ngo has retired to his native Vietnam to be replaced by Maia and Striped Bass alum Terence Feury. Under the guidance of national food darling, owner Ellen Yin, Feury shifts Fork's New American cuisine ever so slightly to emphasize hearty artisanal, handmade (and locally sourced) fare like pasta, breads and charcuterie. Fork is still contemporary and refined, and a place for hip 30-something city dwellers to meet for dates and middle-aged execs to meet with friends and clients.

Great Experience came back with a group

I had such a wonderful experience at the bar dining alone, I booked a business dinner for 20 at the restaurant but this time ate in private room in the back. Received just the same amount of personal attention from the staff as at the bar and left alone when appropriate. Found the menu innovative and not the same old corporate steak and potato fair.

worst restaurant in Phila.

4-23-2007 This was the worst dining experience I've had in 30 years. We were greeted by a hostess whose unfriendly manner could have gotten her the lead in a horror movie.She proceeded in trying to get us to go to another restaurant. (i wish I would have listened to her because it got worse.) I had the braised duck that actually stunk. The potatoes were tasteless and the green beans seemed like they were cooked by running hot water. My dinner friend had pork chops that tasted like the were sitting around for about a week and were tough. My hope is that this overly expensive dinning experience doesnt end up in the toilet

Worth the trip

Went to see Dali and eat at Fork. An unbeatable combination. We had brought a bottle of Champagne and we're accomodated and charged just a modest corkage; we ordered two other bottles of wine and found them to be a very good value. In spite of the hectic pace our waiter, David, was attentive. The owner, herself, served many of the dishes. So service was satisfying, too. The menu was terrific. The other couple in our foursome are somewhat less adventuresome that my wife and I and they loved the nice turn on some classic dishes. They both ordered rack of lamb and cooed over the Fork rendition. We, on the other hand, were all over the menu. I started with a chicken liver appetizer dusted with some sort of original seasoning blend that was delicious (though I don't think I should have had it with Champagne -- my mistake), then a gemelli pasta with Littleneck (?) clams in a sauce that was so good it had to be soaked up with some of the delicious Fork bread. By this time we were drinking a Sauvignon Blanc and I was on track with my pairings. Then I had the Fork duck breast (prepared perfectly) with duck sausage. Two pieces of sausage and a whole large breast! It was opulent! Here we were drinking a bottle of Gigondes and it, too, was a perfect match. I had also ordered a small side of thyme mashed potatoes for the table. It is a nice substitute for the ubiquitous garlic mashed potatoes and more delicate in flavor. Before heading home, I ordered the Fork creme brulee which was wickedly good. However, since I wasn't driving I had, by that time, just enough wine to make me forget the special twist the Fork used to make that dessert so exceptional. I guess you'll have to find out for yourself. Fork: it's worth your tines.
