Drift   

The legendary Trader Vic's in Old Town Scottsdale didn't really die before the turn of the century. Its spirit has been reincarnated, upgraded and re-energized a few blocks to the east. Drift Polynesian Restaurant and Tiki Bar is far more swank and funky, with bamboo ceilings, interior walls of volcanic rock, tribal masks lining the walls and fiery torches that line the entrance and patio. A seven-foot Easter Island-style stone-carved figure watches over patrons as they quaff tall exotic rum drinks and dine on huge pu pu platters. Open for lunch and dinner, it serves exceptional food until midnight seven days a week. Polynesian appetizers include spare ribs and beef, chicken and shrimp skewers. Affordably-priced main dishes range from roasted pork sandwiches to exotic noodle bowls like the New Guinea Spicy Peanut Chicken. It also offers fresh fish -- ahi tuna, ono and salmon. At around 10PM, the music picks up and the quiet Polynesian lounge becomes a hot spot for 20-and-30-somethings on the prowl.
