Soul food addicts at Lo Lo's may recognize the handsome young chef-proprietor. He's Larry White Jr., who used to wait tables at his grandmother's famous place, Mrs. White's Golden Rule Caf. Mrs. (Elizabeth) White is still going strong, and it didn't take young Larry long to develop his own loyal following with fried chicken spread around giant butter-covered waffles. The featured item, for about 10 bucks, offers a quarter chicken, two scrumptious waffles, two scrambled eggs with cheese and butter-covered grits. Or you could go "lite" with chicken in peppery country gravy and onions with two sides and a big, luscious piece of cornbread. Those side dishes include macaroni and cheese, candied sweet potatoes, crisp home fries, smothered potatoes and terrific red beans. The place is small -- only about 30 seats -- and it quickly fills up with hungry customers on Friday and Saturday nights. Once seated, it will take a good half-hour wait for your cooked-from-scratch food to arrive, giving you time to read some of the gushing testimonials from Lo-Lo's celebrity fans scrawled on the walls.

The Dirty South
By neo95speed on 04/05/2006
As a recent transplat to the Phoenix area, I am accustomed to the eats of the southern region. Lo Lo's incorporates all the elements of great southern cooking. I would recommend that everyone try Lo Lo's to get a real feeling of southern cooking. The chicken omlette is amazing at this place. If your a beginner just stick to the chicken and waffles with the wide array of sides they have. I love it and im sure you'll love it as well.
