Without advance fanfare or corporate backing, this extraordinary restaurant just sprang up one day, to the delight of discriminating foodies. They immediately hailed it as one of the Valley's finest ever. Success came as the hard-earned result of years of preparation and careful planning by chef Kevin Binkley and his wife, Amy, who runs the front of the house. They met in 1955 when both worked in the kitchen of a five-star restaurant. As a team, they continued sharpening their culinary and management skills at some of the finest restaurants in the country before opening their dream establishment. Binkley's is sophisticated but not at all snooty. The atmosphere and dcor are warm and inviting. The daily-changing, six-course, French-inspired American menu has cold and hot appetizers, fish, meat, cheese and dessert. Starters can include such luscious items as hickory-smoked trout and juicy, lemon-glazed frog legs. Frequent entrees are duck breast with poached peach, wild rice and pistachios; and sliced leg of lamb in a white bean ragout with carrots, turnips and rutabaga. Everything is priced a la carte, but your best bet is to assemble your own tasting menu of four, five or six courses. Seating about 50, the place offers two nightly seatings, and reservations are a must.

Laughable experience
By Twinklfsh on 06/18/2008
This was the strangest food experience I ever had. They sat us at a supposed "premium table" next to what they called the wine cellar which was just a clear glass room where the hostesses would step in and whisper and laugh at things all night long. Our meal was extremely overpriced - $20 some dollars for a single lonely scallop in the middle of what should have been a serving platter. The man who served our bread dropped a raisin in the middle of the table and then picked it up with his tongs, did a meticulous and very loud search for where it came from finally deciding that my mothers roll needed another raisin and placed the raisin ontop of her serving. Later he was angry with us for deciding we had had enough bread and stomped away. The meal was finished with thier signature ice cream of the day - something balsamic which tasted like OLD SOCKS! At least we have an experience to laugh about. But we will never ever go back!

Binkleys, a Superb Restaurant

Fabulous food and service. Since the demise of Marquesa and Mary Elaines, the only truly "Fine Dining" experience left in this side of the valley! Only problem is location...it's soooo far; but that's how it is, if you want wonderful food, you've gotta drive...unless you live way out there.
