The food, atmosphere and ambiance of this stylish Italian bistro are as cool as anything you'll find in the Valley. Although it's in the shadow of ASU, this is an adult place. This Caffe Boa -- not affiliated with the same namesake in Ahwatukee -- features high ceilings, a handcrafted dark wood wine bar and 100-year-old red brick archways. Adding to the scene are rustic hardwood floors, candles on the dark wood tables and sage stucco walls surrounding a jazz band grooving in the corner five nights a week. Outside, under five oak trees, you can dine on a raised and wood-trellised front patio that's great for people-watching on Mill Avenue. A widely-heralded menu that previously concentrated on paninis and pastas has been enhanced with spaghetti and meatballs, vegetarian lasagna, filet mignon and a fresh fish of the day. Despite the high-end ambiance and extraordinary food quality, lunch and dinner prices are modest. Featured dishes like penne pasta mixed with red peppers, fresh herbs and mushrooms and cheese tortellini with broccoli, sweet peas, mushrooms and cream are in the $10 range. Tasty sandwiches are considerably less.

Not what expected

I was let down by the over priced menu with poor service, I usually go to their Ahwatukee spot which is always good. Maybe the staff should go to that location to eat to see what they should be doing to improve the experience. I think that being on Mill Ave is what keeps them going.

Cafe Nooooooooooooa
By martiphoenix on 08/24/2006
Extremely noisy restaurant, indifferent, aloof staff and owner. Young egocentric waiter tried constantly to up sell. Had a poor experience there on Mother's Day (of all days). What they call Tiger Prawns are what most people would call small to medium size shrimp, and very few at that. Owner never available, left several messages, owner never returned my call. Will never go there again. A cutsey name does not a fine restaurant make.

I have eaten here several times, brought out of town guests twice and every time we have all been blown away by the delicious food, beautiful presentation and excellant service. You would never know from the outside how incredible the food is it sports a very low profile. The best kept secret in town. Kudos
