Chez Nous is a shrine to the lounge gods. Phonetically "shay new," the name is French for "our house," but it's more like Shaft's second home, virtually unchanged since the '60s. Attracting attention from Details and Rolling Stone, Chez Nous' yellowed wallpaper, flickering candles and vinyl seats ooze swagger and swank. The almost pitch-black interior hides age and inhibitions, allowing lounge lizards to live it up in dim disco-ball obscurity. Sit and watch the movie roll, as pimp daddies and femme fatales drag on cigarettes or clutch that stranger tight on the miniscule R&B dance floor. You'll rub elbows with the players every time you move in this low-capacity lounge.

Phoenix nightlife
This is a 40 year old club where the big draw is the wonderful soul music from the past.This coctail lounge is in the central part of Phoenix, a short drive from downtown.Free parking and a small cover charge generally around $5.Postage stamp size dance floor plus its super smoky which is why I don't rate it higher.Well made drinks.This club attracts all ages with most people in their 30's or early 40's. Interacial crowd reminds me of the jazz and soul clubs I use to go to in Chicago.A unique place for the Phoenix market ,far different scene than the clubs you see in Tempe and Scottsdale.
It is what it is
Don't go if you don't like to be touched. It is all about movin' and groovin' with little or no inhibitions. It is having fun, laughing and being naughty in the dim light. You are either watching or doing, and it is all good.
laid back fun
this place you can go dressed up - down - very eclectic crowd good band, fun and not snooty and uppity like in Scottsdale, where everyone puts on airs - this is relaxed-good times
