Chompies guarantees that every single item on the menu is homemade, including the wide array of beautiful deserts at the pastry counter. Culinary temptations include Skyscraper Sandwiches, towering meals prepared with three slices of bread and requiring at least two hands; the popular Chicken Chompadilla, a second-cousin to the quesadilla; burgers, seafood and various hot entrees. Limited patio seating is available, but the real action takes place indoors where a full-wall mural of New York City nostalgia overshadows tables, booths and the always-crowded takeout line. On Jewish holidays the restaurant fills with celebration and kosher meals are served; advance reservations on these days are a must.
