If you don't mind standing in front of a steaming, charcoal broiler while you order, you'll be handsomely rewarded. The comfortably rustic decor goes well with a homey and friendly atmosphere. The bargain-priced burgers, cooked to order over mesquite flames, are hard to beat at any price. Just off the ASU campus, the Tempe Chuck Box attracts hordes of students who don't bother reading the wall filled with multiple awards, including several "Best of Phoenix" designations. They already know the one-third-pound Big Juan is as good as it gets, with a selection of cheeses and guacamole or bacon toppings. Super hungry? The half-pound Great Big Juan will satisfy the biggest appetite. When it's ready, take your steaming beauty to the fully stocked condiment bar and pile on the fixings. It goes down easy with a frosted mug of beer, though for age-challenged underclassmen, make that root beer.

We used to live in Surprise and always went to the Chuck Box. We love the atmosphere and the food. Now when we visit we always go back because it is our favorite little restaurant to go to. Keep up the good work Chuck Box Personnel.

Best In Arizona

I love living in Tucson, but the only place I will buy a hamburger in Arizona is the Chuck Box in Tempe! It is a one-of-a-kind place.

Why tailgate? The Chuckbox does it for you!
By CLWord77 on 05/16/2008
The burgers here are the kind I WISH I could cook on my grill. Coming from the midwest, tailgating is a time-honored tradition before football games. Granted, in AZ huddling around a pot of chili in parkas isn't a viable option, but I'll always go to the Chuckbox for my pre-game meal for ASU home games. When the Cardinals were playing here before moving to Glendale, it was a more happening place than the stadium itself! I just wish I didn't live in North Scottsdale... I'd chow here far more often.
