Delhi Palace Cuisine of India   

From its arcade-like exterior, you'd never think of this strip-mall eatery as a palace. But step inside the valley's original Indian restaurant and you'll encounter a pleasant surprise. Subdued interior lighting illuminates a large room decorated with a mirrored wall and big, exotic brass wine vessels used in India to symbolize affluence. You could spend the evening puzzling over endless pages of the menu -- over 80 items, all from Northern India -- but the waiter will ask you a few questions about personal tastes and make his recommendations. Basmati rice dishes have universal appeal, especially the vegetable biryani -- rice with fresh vegetables and nuts seasoned with Indian herbs and spices. The curries -- beef, lamb and chicken -- can be ordered spicy hot, medium or mild. If you like it super hot, try the tandoori -- shrimp, lamb or chicken with chutney. A good way to sample a wide variety of dishes is at the bargain priced, all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. Like most other Indian restaurants, Delhi Palace offers a wide variety of vegetarian dishes.
