Even President Bush and Sen. John McCain had trouble finding this aptly named place, which doesn't even offer an outside sign to mark its location. But once you walk through the famous copper door and smell the aroma of meat sizzling on a wood-fired grill, you'll know you've found it. The cozy dining room holds less than two-dozen people, half of them seated at the bar. Hidden behind a revolving wall panel, there's an even more secret private dining room for special groups. The mid-priced food is first-rate, the same as served around the corner at Richardson's Cuisine of New Mexico. That's no coincidence, because both are owned by restaurateur extraordinaire Richardson Browne, who also owns the famous Rokerij a few bocks north on 16th St. The Hideaway doesn't accept reservations, so your best bet is to call ahead and ask them to put you on the waiting list.
