Rate and Write a Review When the waiter arrives with a sizzling two-pound steak or a whole roasted chicken, accompanied by mounds of garlic mashed potatoes, you might assume it's for the entire table. You'd be wrong, because your delightful duty is to consume the entire platter -- enough calories to last a week. But to concentrate solely on the gargantuan portions would be a disservice to this pedigreed steakhouse and hugely popular watering hole. It's co-owned by the famed Mastro Restaurant Group and Mark Drinkwater, son of the colorful, longtime mayor of Scottsdale, the late Herb Drinkwater. True to the elder Drinkwater's tradition, the restaurant specializes in steak, wine and partying. The meals aren't cheap, even measured by the pound, but the phonebook-sized, a la carte slab of bone-in rib eye, which costs around $30, is no ordinary steak. It's USDA prime, Midwest corn-fed steer, wet-aged, broiled at precisely 800 degrees and served sizzling-hot on a 400-degree plate. You can order this work of art with sides like a one-pound baked potato and creamed spinach. As to the restaurant ambiance, City Hall is contemporary and classy, with 13,000 square feet of glowing red carpet and Brazilian cherry millwork. You can dine in peace, because glittering glass partitions and a full wall of temperature-controlled fine wines separate the dining room from the lively bar.
