Barracked at the end of a strip mall next to sister bar Billy Gordon's, the Horse & Hound Off Broadway is all sports all the time. The atmosphere is grumbling and lively. Waitresses bring drinks to tense men whose hopes are riding on a greyhound or a pony, husbands clouded in cigarette smoke seeking solace from their wives and large groups watching the featured game. One of the few spots in the Valley with off-track betting, the Horse & Hound is large enough to accommodate all types of sports fans and gamblers, and has 54 televisions. Football and athletic banners dominate the interior, and one corner is home to a coveted and rare projection big screen version of the popular Golden Tee 2K golf game. During happy hour, wings and peel-your- own shrimp are less than a quarter each. -- Michael Brennan
