Rate and Write a Review The Valley's Mastro Group developed a winning formula for its string of hugely successful steakhouses, and sees no reason to change, even if it's for a fish house instead of a steakhouse. Hence, its Ocean Club offers gigantic portions of wonderfully prepared, impeccably fresh fish at astronomical prices. Like its high-end, beefy counterparts, the Ocean Club is a showplace restaurant with oversize tables, crisp white linens and a lively lounge scene made for mingling and people-watching. Wrought-iron chandeliers cast warm lighting that illuminates fossilized walls and dramatic windows. Even the diners get into the mood, dressing up for the stylish surroundings. In taste, size and price, appetizers set the tone for the main event -- the shrimp cocktail with three giant black tiger shrimp, and the oversize Dungeness crab cocktail -- all priced from about $13-$17. Like Mastro's steaks, the main dish arrives as the only item on your plate unless you're willing to pay up to $8 for a side dish. Thankfully, entrees are so humongous that you won't have room for anything else, anyway. The popular bouillabaisse is a good example, almost enough shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, crab and lobster to feed a table of four. Insider's tip: a popular off-menu dish that must be requested when you make your reservation is the moist and meaty swordfish chops. Made from cheek meat on the bone, its taste is completely different and can be found nowhere else in the Valley. Ocean Club's menu, ambiance and atmosphere are obviously a popular combination, regardless of price; it's packed seven nights a week.
