Rate and Write a Review Under towering cliffs where prospectors still search for the fabled Lost Dutchman Mine, the rustic restaurant serves family-style dinners that would make frontier miners drool. Inside, its like an old, crowded mining-camp cook shanty, authentic right down to the rough-sawn Ponderosa pine planks. Daily menu offerings are simple and plentiful -- barbecue ribs, roast chicken with stuffing and gravy, big slices of gravy-topped roast beef sirloin or -- of course -- classic charbroiled steak. Oven-hot baked beans and coleslaw come in big, family-style bowls. Each table also has its own coffee pot, fresh-baked sourdough rolls, homemade raisin bread and cookies. In cookhouse tradition, the cooks are not stingy with sugar. They add it to almost everything, particularly the gravy and sauces. You may want to order them on the side, especially the barbecue sauce. But returning crowds prove that many people have a sweet tooth. Families love the prices for their little ones: kids under 3 are free and ages 4-12 eat half price.

Though I no longer live in the Valley, it is a "must" on every visit I make here.
Those seeking pretentious or sophisticated fare should probably look elsewhere, but if good, down-home cooking and a friendly atmosphere is what you like, you will LOVE the Mining Camp.
