Under towering cliffs where prospectors still search for the fabled Lost Dutchman Mine, the rustic restaurant serves family-style dinners that would make frontier miners drool. Inside, its like an old, crowded mining-camp cook shanty, authentic right down to the rough-sawn Ponderosa pine planks. Daily menu offerings are simple and plentiful -- barbecue ribs, roast chicken with stuffing and gravy, big slices of gravy-topped roast beef sirloin or -- of course -- classic charbroiled steak. Oven-hot baked beans and coleslaw come in big, family-style bowls. Each table also has its own coffee pot, fresh-baked sourdough rolls, homemade raisin bread and cookies. In cookhouse tradition, the cooks are not stingy with sugar. They add it to almost everything, particularly the gravy and sauces. You may want to order them on the side, especially the barbecue sauce. But returning crowds prove that many people have a sweet tooth. Families love the prices for their little ones: kids under 3 are free and ages 4-12 eat half price.

Must Have, Mining Camp!
By nclaca on 10/12/2005
I have been going to the Mining Camp for 15 years. Now that I live out of state, I never miss a chance to dine here. The food is authentic Cowboy/Miners Grub. All while served on metal plates and the best iced tea kept cold in the metal cups also. This is your dress down, family style dinner, with beans that are out of this world. The bread is home-made, and so is the scrumptious green beans. Lots of meat for you carnivores out there, ribs, ham, and chicken with awesome stuffing and gravy. This establishment is a real mining camp that once was, go and enjoy the great food and gift shop, with one of a kind treasures. I love this place and would highly recommend it to everyone.

This was a great find I highly recommend it. Make sure you do not go alone, they serve enough food for a small army! portion size is huge, taste great, and they have wonderful service. The gift shop was also fun.

This is one of only a few restaurants whose menu has not deteriorated over the past 30+ years I have been going there.

Though I no longer live in the Valley, it is a "must" on every visit I make here.

Those seeking pretentious or sophisticated fare should probably look elsewhere, but if good, down-home cooking and a friendly atmosphere is what you like, you will LOVE the Mining Camp.
