A restaurant famous for being one of the valley's most notorious places to go when you look fabulous, need to be seen and are looking to find. All of this gawking extends beyond the barstool, with beautifully executed menu items ranging from the ever popular Tootsie Roll, a cooked shrimp and crab mix rolled with rice and sea weed, dipped in tempura bits and drizzled with a sweet eel sauce, to simpler fare including chicken yakisoba and ginger cilantro ahi tuna. The after-work crowd kicks off happy hour from 7- 9PM on weekdays with seriously discounted sushi, appetizers and, of course, a diverse bar including a variety of Sake, Japanese beer, and wine. At RA, the atmosphere is an attraction unto itself, with its dark, moody ambiance, hip, funky design and energetic vibe. Located on popular Mill Avenue in the heart of this bustling college town, RA's abrasive rock 'n' roll atmosphere attracts young and old, student and professional alike to sample great sushi and food with a Japanese flair, all at a moderate price.

I tried 3 different locations -- Including Downtown Scottsdale and Ahwatukee. Yuk.

Trendy, chain sushi, not good
By beshal on 08/12/2007
I've been to Ra, at least 4 times. The service is terriable, the sushi is average. Sushi is suppose to be eaten in calm, the music is too loud, and for the real sushi appetite, this is like any restaurant chain, nothing special, everything is the same, and most important, not good sushi. Last time, which was in Tempe, they didn't have any Sapporo. Imagine that, a Sushi bar, with no beer. Don't waste your time or money

RA is real
By virgoleah1 on 02/22/2007
RA is the worst sushi resturaunt in town. Their variety of rolls consists of ten different ways a california roll! All the rolls fall apart before you even have time to put it in your mouth. I have never seen one actual asian even preparing any of the sushi. They have horrible service and horrible food. RA is totally americized for the people who aren't adventurous enough to try real japanese cuisian!!
