Rate and Write a Review If you're a tourist, you'll likely carry back great memories and several photos of this celebrated cowboy steak house. Horney, an ornery (but gentle) Arizona Longhorn steer greets visitors at the door. Once inside, it's loud, fun and distinctively Old West, a place where you can order fried rattlesnake and barbecued ribs and wash it down with a prickly pear margarita. The decor is as colorful as the legend about Rustler's Rooste originally being a hideout for cattle rustlers. Wagon wheel chandeliers, massive wood beams and a live, foot-tappin' country band keep it home on the range. The prices are honest, and the food is plentiful. For example, a side order of a huge baked potato with all the fixins is about $1.50. It costs the same for a platter of homestyle mashed potatoes with country gravy. But before ordering any side dishes, be aware that all entrees are served with a salad, corn on the cob, "Spaghetti Red" (spaghetti smothered with homemade chili), cowboy beans, freshly baked biscuits and Indian Fry Bread. Gargantuan, mesquite-grilled, two-pound porterhouse steak fill out the main menu. If you can clean your plate, the entire room will applaud. Then you can order dessert. Try the Nine-Layer Chocolate Cake. -- Cecil Tuck
