Rate and Write a Review In a revolving restaurant perched high atop the Downtown Phoenix Hyatt Regency, the Compass offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire Valley. Normally, you'd expect to pay a week's salary for such amenities, but the prices are far more moderate than most of the city's plush restaurants. It's romantic as an evening setting as Arizona sunsets often provide a backdrop of pink and purple. During dinner, Valley lights are set out below like a twinkling carpet. If you have a favorite view, it will soon appear in the large glass window near your table. The restaurant makes a complete revolution every hour. During lunch or brunch, check out Camelback Mountain and the Estrellas and Superstition mountains in the distance. The Compass is an ideal place to bring older kids for special occasions. And it's a great place to remember when you're attending downtown events. It's across the street from Phoenix Civic Plaza Convention Center, Symphony Hall, Herberger Theater, and within walking distance of Arizona Center, Phoenix History Museum, Heritage Square, Arizona Science Center, America West Arena and Bank One Ballpark. The menu features contemporary American food with both Southwestern and Pacific Rim accents. The emphasis is on fresh ingredients, combined with favorites like delicate crab cakes; filet mignon with asparagus and mashed potatoes; and roasted pork tenderloin with a jalapeno glaze and sweet corn salsa. Sunday brunches consistently rank among the Valley's best.
