Rate and Write a Review Hey, retro cats and kittens: Cefalo's is bringing back 1940s-era Hollywood cool, so put on your glad rags and dig this swanky new joint. Housed in a former Presbyterian church, Cefalo's uses the space to advantage -- aside from a spaciousness that gives dancers extra swinging room, stained-glass windows soften the light to put you in the mood, and the balcony serves as a VIP lounge with a dedicated bar for private parties and the city's Rat Pack faithful. Cefalo's Big Night Band takes to the stage Fridays and Saturdays, while music on other nights includes jazz, blues and R&B. If you want to learn the moves, keep an eye out for evenings when Cefalo's offers swing-dancing lessons. If swing isn't your thing, come on Tuesdays, when DJs spin contemporary tunes. And you can't very well enjoy Big Band sounds without a classic cocktail. Ask the bartender to shake up a gimlet of Grey Goose vodka with fresh lime juice; or a sidecar, a generous pour of brandy mixed with Cointreau and fresh lemon juice. If you've danced up an appetite, try a starter such as tiger prawn cocktail or the scallops trio (seasoned with bacon, lime hollandaise and citrus sauce). Otherwise, head for the restaurant (open May 2005), which serves up entrees with Brown Derby style, including rack of lamb roasted with a hint of rosemary; and classic surf and turf.
