Not your typical greasy spoon, Tom's is a prettified Hollywood version of a diner, complete with plenty of stainless steel and chrome, plus a long counter and comfy booths. The menu includes all the classics: tasty breakfasts, sandwiches, milkshakes and juicy burgers, plus a few surprises, like gyros and pizza. The wallpaper above the booths has been gathering signatures over the years, ranging from those of local television news broadcasters to average joes. (Best to check with your waitress before leaving your own mark.) The clientele is a mix of youngsters, artists, musicians and older folks who remember the glory days of diners. Everyone, after all, can appreciate a good cheeseburger.
