Although it's a little dark, the dining room in the back of Zarras has a quality all its own. Formerly known as a night club, the Electric Banana, the Zarras brought bands like They Might Be Giants and 10,000 Maniacs. The Zarra family converted the place into a restaurant with a large main dining room and a smaller lounge with a bar. More important than the history or atmosphere of Zarras is what you will find on the menu and then on your plate. Hand-rolled ravioli and ricotta dumpling soup are among the many family recipes that are presented here. Appetizers are priced between $5 and $6, and entrees range from $8 to $18. Reservations are accepted but generally not necessary. Smoking is allowed only in the lounge area. -- Justin Cepelak

Best place ever. I wish I could find a place like this in California. The only place to get a good Italian meal is at my mothers, Zarra's red sauce comes close to hers, I couldn't believe it. I will visit again when I'm in town, my home town. The staff is very friendly, we had a nice time.

LOVE IT
By jmm3996 on 06/24/2004
I love it! I went here for a special night out. It was a little chilly out and when we got to Zarra's, they placed us next to the fireplace. It was awesome. The decor is worth going to see. Down to the ladies/mens rooms, this place has it together. After dinner, we moved to the bar as we did not want to leave. We sat there for a few hours listening to the owner and staff tell old stories about how the place changed over the years. Quite interesting (if I do say so myself). The food was excellent. I had the Tortellini Bella, fabulous. He had the Ravioli, excellent. All around -- I loved the placed. The atmosphere, the people and the food. I would recommend this any day of the week. Enjoy!!
