Since opening in 1976, Aiello's has maintained a strong neighborhood following with its friendly staffers, distinctive sauce, thick crust and delectably greasy cheese. Here, reasonably priced plain pies can be doctored with toppings ranging from traditional pepperoni to the more adventurous pineapple, broccoli and artichoke. Other favorites here include meatball and chicken parmigiana hoagies, calzones, strombolis, ravioli and lasagna. There's no real decor to speak of; this is simply a pizza joint with white Formica counters, a row of soda coolers and roomy plastic booths in the back. What more do you need, anyway?

I would like to clarify the comment made that Aielloâs stole Mineoâs recipe, I work at Mineoâs in the late 60âs, Joe Aiello was the catalyst in the daily operation of Mineoâs, he would work six days a week for long hours, the two owners would enjoy days off every week and split their weekly schedule between the two. Joe wanted Mineoâs to open a pizza shop were he could be part owner under the Mineoâs name, they said no to Joe. Joe embarks on a dream to own a pizza shop and the rest is history.
