This Aussie-style eatery offers a fruit-based, Down Under approach to barbecue. Take your pick of pork, beef, turkey or chicken ribs, plus ''sangas'' (sandwiches) like the half-pound Dundee's Huge Pork (winner of 85 awards in world barbecue championships), and woodfired pizzas that you can see being made. Daily specials for drinks and dishes are featured on a huge, wood-framed blackboard by the bar. Seating here is in the form of big wooden benches. Take a look at the lamps, metallic boxes with Australian icons such as crocs, koalas and kangaroos etched in dots of light. You'll even find a few colorful boomerangs in the restaurant's decor. Inside the door is a huge Australian football trophy. Still, it's Pittsburgh, so Steeler Sundays on the plasma TV are a big draw here. If you're branching out from your usual Pepsi, try the old-fashioned Boylan Bottleworks soft drinks, with flavors such as birch beer, root beer and cream soda. And if you like the barbie sauce, pick some up to try at home.

By Fiddyswoman on 06/06/2008
The service was LOUSY. Our ribs were cold. We had to request that they be warmed. The took the plates to the back and I assume microwaved them. It was awful!!!!!!!!!!!! Times are too hard to waste money. I will not go back.

Sam in Nevada

I was in pittsburgh for a meeting. I asked the hotel staff a place where I can get bbq at, they told me Boomerangs up the street. I went there as soon as I walked in the place you can smell the fire burning and food. I really liked the brisket and the servings are huge (had to get a doggie bag) I for one liked the food. I was sitting at the bar and a gentleman was talking to me we talked for awhile and I told him he looks like someone I know then I asked him where he is from. He looked at me and said he played for the Steelers his name was Townsend. After I choked on my beer I was pleased for the food and for meeting him! I gave this place a three star because the bartender seemed more interested in talking to the them than taking time out to come back and see if I needed something else. But all in all it was a nice place to chill.

I live in Georgia and I do love bbq..A friend who works at pitt ohio near a bbq place took me there. Oh my, I loved the sauce they use and the ribs are to die for! I never seen Beef ribs that big and meaty in my life! What is really cool about the place is the servers are very up on things and you can see the cook cooking the food right there! If I have a chance to come back to Pgh I would go back there for more.
