Since 1982, Dave Tuttle and Andy Hardie have been at the pinnacle of the ice cream game in Western Pennsylvania, consistently ranked among the top 500 stores in the United States. Many cone connoisseurs will swear by their unique homemade concoctions, which include twice as many flavors as corporate competitors such as Baskin Robbins, not to mention add-ins such as candies and nuts. Known for his trademark of using a single M&M to stop up the bottom of his waffle cones, Hardie uses local breweries' leftover malts to create beer-based flavors such as Vanilla Bean and Golden Ale. He also serves up rich frozen yogurts and sorbets such as Red Raspberry and Mocha Espresso Chip. As is the case with most ice cream stores, there are few seats, leading most customers to enjoy the creamy ecstasy of their favorite Dave and Andy's flavor in the privacy of their own homes, even in the dead of winter.
