Nick's Fat City may be gone, but there's some Diesel-powered excitement in its place. At this South Side club, everything pulses with colored light and fog, creating a Miami or New York vibe. Clubgoers can scope out the crowds from the catwalk, as people below gyrate to dance music with a touch of techno. On Fridays and Saturday, DJs spin tunes, while acoustic bands play on Tuesdays; a variety of local and national acts take the stage on Thursdays. Wednesday nights bring College Night -- and drink specials -- and you'll always find gourmet 10-inch pizzas and "Diesel maki" (sushi-style appetizers) to go with the drinks. If you want to get away from the crush of the crowd, there's bottle service and a VIP lounge upstairs. You can bet on Diesel to pump up the excitement on East Carson Street.

I've been here twice, and it was OK. I guess depending on the DJ the music choices will vary. The first time I went (I think Friday nite) the music wasn't too bad... top 40, hiphop mix. The second time... not so much. The place definitely plays its share of techno towards the end of the night. Cigarette smoke is also an issue, but I suppose that's a problem at every establishment in PA. For once, I'd like to leave a club smelling like I did when I first entered the club.

gets a bit too crowded at times but the best on sunday nights with tiny giant DJs
