At South Side's Iguana Grill, spicy Mexican food is served with a Manhattan flair you're sure to notice the moment you enter. The bar -- covered in New York-cool glass and mirrors -- reveals familiar beers, a wide array of high-end liquors (the building blocks of martinis and specialty cocktails), plus tequilas and Mexican cervezas. The bar fills up quickly during happy hour, from 3 to 7PM weekdays, but the food also is a big draw. Iguana Grill's spicy adobado barbecue sauce tops chicken wings, burritos, quesadillas and pulled-pork sandwiches. Even the burgers and pizza don't escape an update -- Southwestern seasoning spices up the juicy beef patties, while pizza comes with guacamole, salsa or beans. If you prefer smaller servings with your Corona, try the nachos, fresh-fried potato chips or a chili dog -- sure signs Iguana Grill can embrace Big Apple chic without abandoning its roots.

This place closed a few months ago. Someone needs to pay attention when putting these polls together.

Rude Service

I have often wanted to go to the Iguana Grill, but, as someone who will not go to bars alone and did not know anyone who wanted to go, I never managed to go there. I was finally able to become a customer, but found very poor, and rude, service. All of the tables were dirty with numerous empty glasses and, as soon as I finished my beverage, was asked to leave without explanation. I inquired about the reasoning leading to my dismissal and was greeted with a threat to call upon the authorities. This is no way to treat a customer, perhaps if I was intoxicated, but alas, I only had a singular beverage the entire night. I will never become a customer of this establishment again. Any of the various Mad Mex locations are much better - especially in regard to customer service.
