From the outside, Jose and Tony's resembles a Southwestern saloon into which a posse of gunslingers might stride at any moment. Inside, adobe-color walls, signature arches and a stained-glass ceiling evoke a Mexican villa crossed with a tropical bar. If that weren't enough, the space is filled with flashing big-screen TVs, blinking video games and dartboards. Sound like sensory overload? It is, which is exaclty what makes this place so popular with South Hills revelers. Rooted in this spot for more than 30 years, Jose and Tony's is devoid of pretentions. You place your order and retrieve it from a counter in the back, while the owner himself often tends bar. Entrees from south of the border include the enchilada plate, Burrito El Grande, California burrito and chicken fajita, as well as a few Mexican-Italian-style offerings such as pizza, calzones and the "sloppy Jose." On most Saturday nights, a DJ spins Top 40 dance tracks for an eager mob. There's no real dance floor to speak of, but the crowd doesn't seem to mind.

Worst food serviced on a paper place ever. Go to Moe's or Qdoba or even Taco Bell.

Micro wave restaurant. Can't believe this place was even mentioned. Even Taco Bell much better.

Average at best

There was nothing special about the food at this spot. It was average at best and bland at worst. I don't plan to ever go back.

I bought a best of Pittsburgh book when I moved here from Denver because I really missed Authentic Mexican Food. Well was I ever disappointed. They should stick to serving wings because it was awful.
