For a one-stop clubbing extravaganza, no place better encapsulates the Pittsburgh nightlife scene than the converted Station Square warehouse known as Matrix. Combining four voluminous compartments, each with a distinct theme, bar and musical genre, Matrix is like a gymnasium-size sample tray of larger cities' main events. Dressed-to-impress party-hoppers show off slick moves on the dance floors of Club Goddess (California hip-hop), Club Velvet (Latin, salsa, tequila, ole!), Club Liquid (space-age atmosphere and oxygen bar, for the futuristically trendy), and Club Exit (dark and sparsely decorated for the true nihilist). Catering to postcollegiate twentysomethings, this is where Station Square scenesters like to end at 2AM. While the quartered design may appear to divide revelers into rigid cliques, Matrix is impressively integrated, serving up just enough panache for everyone.

Fun and cheap!

I really like Matrix. They have good specials, and music to suit everyone. I especially love the 80s room!

DJ Jan SUCKS!!!
By cortezvenom on 09/08/2007
DJ Jan @ Matrix sucks! He's a GIMP that looks like Rudy!!! He plays the same remix service crap in the same order all the time. He was once a good DJ but since then he has lost his heart for djing. He is greedy and will stab you in the back when you are not looking. Now for the establishment. Tom J. is a JOKE that thinks he has class but is just a typical yinzer loser. Tom B. is Tom J's JEW puppet. Back to Jan. He's 4 feet tall and walks with a limp and thinks his shit don't stink, he takes his man crushes out to eat so he can score with them. He enjoys long walks in the woods and brushing up against hairy men, he also enjoys going to the playground and watchng little boys play. His right hand man is a lazy fat dj named the Count. The Count came up with this name for himself because it speaks for his way of living. He lives with his Aunt and has no intentions of growing up, he also looks down on people that have normal jobs and support themselves. Then you have Digital Dave. He's an in the closet homosexual that enjoys causing drama between everybody that he encounters, he also enjoys long penises in his rectum. Digital Dave also enjoys going to the local YMCA with Jan and getting all sweaty and dirty so the other men can wash them down in the showers.

A fun night out
By apryille on 05/11/2007
I think Matrix was a fun night out. I had fun in the 80's room. They play some cheesy songs, but that's ok because I've drank enough of the dollar beers! Not really into the Latin or Top 40 room, but it's always packed in there. They have a "techno" room, but there never is anyone in there...maybe they should change the theme. I guess my only gripe is that I wish they played a little more variety of the 80's, but I guess they want to stay with the 80's hits. I usually go there with my boyfriend or with a group of people, so I'm not sure about the pick up scene. Anyways, it's a fun night out.

rude staff N ppl too crowded
By xstarrykissesx on 03/09/2007
I didn't like it the first time i went, but i decided i'd give it another try and i STILL don't like it, in fact, i like it MUCH MUCH less than my original first impression. Its too crowded, the guys there are jerks (granted, this isn't the venue's fault, just an idea of who you'll run into), the bartenders are rude. The 80's room was fun, but that isn't enough to get me back in that over-crowded jerkfest. I'd also like to agree with the abundance of "over-processed" boys in striped button-up shirts, try something new already.
