One of the best theaters in the region, Carmike's MaxiSaver 12 shows films for $2.50 per screening at all times. While the MaxiSaver doesn't have as good a selection of films as the crosstown competitor (Super Saver Cinemas in the North Hills), it is the superior theater by far. The MaxiSaver is constructed in a similar layout to the Waterworks 10, featuring large auditoriums with above-average sound and screen images. For a bargain theater, it's kept up impeccably by its staff, and is a wonderful alternative for those who prefer not to rush out to a crowded theater to see a movie the moment it's released.- Doug Mosurak

bad experience
I was at this theater today and had a horrible experience there. The projector was messed showing only part of movie frame on the screen. After waiting thru 20 minutes of this I got up and walked out and demanded a refund. The manager approved of the refund only after arguing with and being extremely rude. I wouldn't recommend this theater to anyone.

you know, you people are so ungreatful. This is a DOLLAR theatre. What do you expect??? What, do you want, a 5 star theatre for $1.00? Would you like reclining heated vibrating chairs and someone sweeping under your feet as you drop popcorn? Dream On. Think about what you can actually buy for 1.00 or even 1.50.
I for one appreciate the Maxisaver. It's not bad at all. It's the only affordable theatre in Pittsburgh!! I can take the whole family to see a movie for under $5.00. So what if it's a little noisy and a little dirty. it's a DOLLAR. Lighten up and just enjoy the movie.
You're the kind of people that will be bitching up a storm if it goes out of business.
