It's a wonder Tazza D'Oro hasn't exploded in popularity during the three-and-a-half years it's been in business. True, the location is somewhat secluded -- between East Liberty and the zoo -- but Tazza's comfy, Euro-style atmosphere more than makes up for its off-the-beaten-path address. Once you've ordered a flawless cafe au lait from the barista and settled with a good book into one of Tazza's oversized chairs, you might forget you're in Pittsburgh altogether. With its chalkboard menu (featuring panini and other light fare), tastefully framed artwork and round wood tables, Tazza would be just as at home in San Francisco's Mission District or on Seattle's Capitol Hill. Batdorf and Bronson, a coffee-roasting company in Olympia, Wash., supplies Tazza's beans, so even drip-coffee lovers can count on quality. In warmer months, expect the tables and chairs out front to be packed with students, young families and even a dog or three.

Fabulous!

I've been a fan of Enrico's since it opened. Notwithstanding it's great coffees, cold drinks - it also has an unrivalled tea menu featuring a wide variety from all over the globe. It is also a neghbourhood meeting place and the last time I was in there was a politician answering questions from folks in the area. Truly an amazing find and I'll be back next time I am in town.
