Georgetowne Inn isn't an actual inn, but the white stucco walls and exposed wood beams evoke the first guesthouse cottages to spring up in colonial America. A condensed little bar welcomes visitors near the door, suggesting an intimate tavern setting, but the two-tier dining space is large and airy, bringing to mind both a homey parlor (a hearth is embedded in one wall) and a voluminous beer hall. Despite its informal appearance, Georgetowne Inn can't help reveling in its absurdly beautiful view of the Point and Three Rivers; simple plate-glass windows let the scenery speak for itself. Less expensive than any other spot on the block, the Georgetowne compensates for its casualness with expertly prepared courses. Chicken marsala with fresh mushrooms, as well as prime rib au jus with Yorkshire pudding, offer lip-smacking perfection -- especially when accompanied by the chef's veggies, house salad, cheeses and an imported pint or two from the bar.

I've been enjoying the Georgetowne inn for a few years & must say I'm rather distraught at the bad reviews from others.I however always have outstanding meals with exceptional service. The price is also very nice.Hands down the best french onion soup I've ever tasted!Give me a break people!!!This is one of the best places Pittsburgh has to offer.

Highly Over Rated

Once upon a time this might have been THE place, but alas, it's is now dated. The absolute best thing about The Georgetowne Inn is the view -- IF you're lucky enough to get a table that can see it. The food is good at best, and most of what we've had on our last two visits was only average. Their "famous" French Onion soup was not only below par, it was barely warm. Our first trip here was a guests, just visiting Pittsburgh, and I was dismayed to relocate here if this was considered the best of the `Burgh. Fortunately, I have since found that there are other options that are greatly superior.
