Of all the diners in Pittsburgh, Ritter's seems to boast the largest following. Though this spot buzzes with patrons in the early evening, the queue of hungry customers often spills out the door and onto the sidewalk at 1:45AM. When clubgoers need to refuel after a night of gallivanting, they dig in at Ritter's. The waitresses, many of whom are hardenend veterans of the business, won't take any guff from tipsy or belligerent patrons. Treat them with courtesy, however, and you'll never see the bottom of your coffee cup. Though lunch and dinner options are vast, most people crowd in for the breakfast offerings, which are served around the clock. In addition to the basics, Ritter's cooks up a few interesting variations, including a feta cheese omelet. Desserts are a draw, as well -- the banana-cream pie is especially popular. Designed in the late '70s, the decor at Ritter's is exactly what you'd expect: In the main space are a long counter, a row of stools and small booths with connections to a jukebox. Why deviate from a foolproof formula?

I don't know
By Exoticmodel0006 on 01/03/2009
I never been to Ritter's, but my sister and mom when there and my sis got sick with stomach pain like the person who left a comment also. My mom didn't like the food either, but it's hard to please her unless it's Red Lobster or some other upscale resturant. My parents used to go there back in the 80's when they we're out partying and needed something to eat quick.

Good food but rude owner
By artficionado1 on 04/02/2007
I go to Ritter's diner at least once a month and here are my observations. Likes: 1) good food. not great food, but when it's 3 am and you're drunk, the place hits the spot 2) i have always had this very nice waitress. very patient and attentive. Dislikes: 1) the place only takes cash. Don't have cash? there is an ATM inside, but it charges a fee. 2) rude owner. I have had several encounters with the owner and he was always cranky. I once asked him why doesnt the place take credit/debit cards, he was unreceptive to my question and responded in a mean manner. since i got such a take-it-or-leave-it attitude from him, i'm taking my future business to eat-n-park.

I GET SICK EVERY TIME
By promedtrans01 on 02/02/2007
I love their food, but there is something in it that makes me deathly ill, with the worst stomach pains I have ever had in my life. It happens to my room mate too. Within 10 minutes after eating there, I am doubled over in pain. Like I said, I love the taste of their food and the atmosphere, but it must just be LADEN with fat and sat in their kitchen in a warmer or something, collecting bacteria. Please, unless you have an IRON walled stomach, don't go.
