Like the illicit nightclubs of the Roaring '20s, Sewickley SpeakEasy is hidden from view -- but you don't have to know a secret knock to dine here. The restaurant, opened in the former home of Haysville's founder, is perched on a wooded hilltop, given away only by the beckoning woman on the sign and a roadside mural of 1920s scenes. The flapper era continues inside; check out the wall covered with sheet music for tunes such as 'Brown Eyes, Why Are You Blue?'. Seafood and steaks are the specialty here, but don't hesitate to branch out. Especially good are the crispy deboned duck a l'orange, pasta scoglio tossed with seafood, and lightly breaded chicken Zurich topped with onion rings, Swiss cheese, bordelaise and lemon-butter cream sauce. The wine list offers about 100 half-bottles and more than 500 choices in all. On cool nights, the restaurant's working fireplaces should keep things cozy. What are you waiting for? Gas up the old jalopy and check out this swell joint.

Good not exceptional
By adam81apple on 10/18/2008
I've been here three times in the past 5 years. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. Deinitely do not choose outdoor tables. The train goes by aboutevery 10 min or so and the horn is deafening as there is a RR crossing below. Literally cannot talk over the racket of the train. Inside might be better. Food and portions are ggod but not anything to write home about. I was there on a Friday night last summer and I don't think there wer 20 other people in the restaurant. Not a good sign. Food quality and taste has fallen off.

Great Place..Food is excellent , you have to try the Fried Cheezecake, to die for..Service is the best...Atmosphere , its quite unique.! Everyone there is very friendly..Have taken friends there, they loved it also..we try to go as often as we can..It's a little over an hour's drive for us , but well worth it. If your looking for someplace different and good , you have to give it a try.

Worth a try, again...
By srsouiriyoupc on 03/05/2007
After anxiously awaiting an opportunity to try this highly rated venue, we had a less than stellar experience. It was "off season" and mid week, the place was virtually deserted, and yet the service was slow and the steak had to be sent back as undercooked -- twice! (I ordered it "medium" and got rare, then medium well, but couldn't bear to tell them for a THIRD time that it wasn't right.) I have read SO many good things that I'm willing to say it might have been an off night and I will be happy to try it again.
