Pizza lovers in the Big Apple swear by their city's thin-crust pie, grabbing slices as they rush off, while devotees in Chicago prefer the delights of a deep-dish pie enjoyed with friends. Vincent's offers both New York- and Chicago-style pizzas, plus a traditional pie and specialty toppings such as seafood, Italian steak and pollo divino (grilled chicken breast). This spot serves plenty of pizza to the busy lunch crowd, but the atmosphere here is more like that in Chicago, inviting you to kick back with a brew. Though there are no slices here, you can buy a four-cut traditional pie if you're dining solo. Downstairs, scenes of city landmarks such as Point State Park, with Three Rivers Stadium in the background, hint at the restaurant's staying power. The upstairs room has a pizza-pub feel, but check out the window with the stained-glass image of a pizza as you climb the steps. The menu also has sandwiches such as the hefty Italian Stallion (Genoa salami, baked ham, pepperoni, salami, provolone and hot peppers on locally baked Mancini bread) and "Pittsburgh's favorite late-night snack," a variation on the fries-filled sandwich made with Genoa salami, capicola and baked ham (served at all hours). In addition, you'll find calzones, salads and pasta, including "spicy, spicy pasta," tossed with pepperoni and hot peppers.

Vinnnie Pie's from Forest Hills
By NateFMar on 07/10/2008
I remember going there when Vince opened in about 1950. It was the best then (cigarette ashes and all) and still is the best. Although Vince has retired, he taught the current owner very well. I believe (but I can't be positive), Vincent's was the first pizza place in Pittsburgh. I remember seeing him on local TV demonstrating how he made his pizza's. Long live the "Vinnie pie".

Need a Vinnies fix
By Ht4Cycle on 07/02/2008
I grew up on Vinnies in Forest Hills. Joined the service and always dreamed about heading back and getting a vinnies. I have been all over the world and now live in Va. and there is nothing on the planet like a "Vinnie Pie" . Each year I make my trip and join my brothers in a ritual of Vinnies and a Steelers game. It doesn't get any better than that.
